How much will my mural cost?

In the same way that no two people are alike, no two murals are the same, the variations are infinite! This is why I take the time to price every mural on an individual basis.

Prices are based on the time it takes to prepare and paint a mural, rather than simply the area it covers. This means a small, highly detailed mural could be similarly priced to a much larger, less detailed mural. So whatever your budget I can design a mural to fit your space and style perfectly.

The size, level of detail, intended wall surface and wall position are just a few of the factors I take into account when creating the free estimate for your mural.

If you would like to know how much (or how little) your mural idea could cost, then get in touch through this site or call me on either 01865 429 703 or 07817 754 203 to discuss your ideas. If it is more convenient for you, we can arrange an on site consultation. I can then provide you with your own tailored estimate. Both my estimate and consultation time are free of charge.

What does the cost of my mural cover?

The cost covers everything! There are no hidden extra charges. Your estimate is compiled from the information you give when first making contact and consists of a price range that your final quote will fall into. The final quote for your mural will be agreed with you at the end of the design phase of your commission. This means you will know the price of your mural before it’s produced, so no nasty surprises.

What will my mural look like?

At the end of the design stage of your commission I’ll send you a Design Pack. This includes a detailed colour sketch of your final design, superimposed onto a photograph of your space. This means you can be confident the design is exactly what you want. Your mural will only be painted when you’ve agreed on the design. This ensures you get exactly what you want from your commission.

How long does a mural take from start to finish?

This depends entirely on the project you are planning. A Home Time mural can go from commission to completion in just one week and I can be on site for just one day. If you are on a tight schedule for a larger project I can arrange to Fast Track your project, contact me to find out just how quickly your mural could be produced and ask about my Fast Track option. Although your mural can be completed in most time frames, I will never sacrifice quality to get a mural done quicker. I will either agree a design with you that is economical on time, or invite associate muralists to assist me. No job is too big or too small.

What is a mural?

A Mural is traditionally any painting made directly onto a wall or ceiling. It is also used to refer to large scale paintings that are mounted permanently on a wall, I refer to these as Panel Murals in my work so that you can see the distinction.

There are many techniques used to produce Murals, ‘fresco’ is probably the most well known although this is rarely used in modern Mural painting due to the expense and time that it takes. I use a technique called ‘in secco’ which means I paint onto a dry surface (usually primed plaster), although I do use modern paints rather than pigments.

What makes murals so special?

A Mural, put simply, can transform a space. They have a magical quality that a framed picture can never completely reproduce.

If you want a sea view but live 100 miles away from any ocean then a mural can bring the view to you. Perhaps you have children who would love to be transported into a fantasy land whenever they enter their bedroom. I could keep going all day the possibilities really are endless.

Any space can benefit from the addition of a mural. It can bring your space to life, creating a personality of it’s own for the enjoyment of anyone who has the pleasure of seeing it.

A Mural can be whatever you want it to be, the constraints are only the limits of your imagination.

Does it need to be on a wall?

Although in a traditional sense painting onto a wall is what makes a mural. I understand that in some circumstances this is beautiful but not necessarily practical, especially if you rent a property or are thinking of moving. For this reason I also produce Panel Murals.

If you’d like to enjoy the magic of a mural painting, but painting directly onto a wall is not suitable for your situation, perhaps a Panel Mural would be a valid alternative. Your mural can be painted directly onto thin board which can be mounted directly onto your chosen wall and gives the appearance of a traditional mural. This lends itself particularly well to Tromp L’Oeil Murals which depict views through windows.

Are the paints you use toxic?

Definitely note. I only use Ecos odourless, solvent-free, organic emulsion paints.

My paint contains no VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds) or harmful solvents unlike other paints, which can cause asthma, allergic skin reactions and fatigue amongst other things. This makes the paints I use and the murals I produce unique and IDEAL for children’s rooms and nurseries.

My paints are odourless, so they leave no horrible lingering paint smells. They also contain no animal products and are NOT tested on animals.

How long will the painting last?

Your Mural will last for many years, the technique I use is similar to that used by the ancient Egyptians, whose artwork is still with us after thousands of years.

The special paints I use are odourless, solvent-free and organic, so they’ll help the planet, but they’re also durable and lightfast, so they help your mural last too.

I can coat your mural in a non-toxic acrylic varnish for additional protection.

If your Mural becomes damaged in any way e.g. water damage we can re-paint the affected areas and bring it back to it’s former glory (even if I didn’t paint it in the first place). Get in touch if you require a FREE estimate.

Where are you based?

I am based in the city of Oxford, with excellent transport links to central and southern England with easy access to London and Birmingham. Although my services are available throughout the UK.

What is a CRB check?

This is a check done by the Criminal Records Bureau which flags up any minor or major incidences recorded by the CRB with relation to an individual. It is mainly required for those who work with or in the vicinity of children, young adults and vulnerable adults. The CRB issue a formal document to all those individuals ‘cleared’ by their system.

I hold a CRB check certificate for the peace of mind of my clients.
